Dr Jennifer Thompson

Dr Jennifer Thompson is a neuropsychologist at the Cerebral Function Unit, Greater Manchester Neuroscience Centre. In this clinical and research role she carries out highly specialised neuropsychological assessments of patients attending the unit and is involved in a variety of ongoing research studies investigating clinical, neuropsychological and behavioural aspects of neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, frontotemporal dementia and semantic dementia.
She has a special interest in Huntington’s disease and in 2009 completed a PhD entitled “Automaticity in Huntington’s disease”, which examines the interaction between motor function and attentional processes in patients with Huntington’s disease and pre-manifest carriers of the HD gene. She is co-lead facilitator of the Cognitive Working Group of the European Huntington’s Disease Network.
